2016-04 Fantasy

This season Strathfield Symphony takes a glimpse into dreams, intellect, tenderness and obsession through the music of Sibelius, Berlioz and up and coming composer Cameron Lam.

We begin with the premiere of EWI concerto, Electric Phoenix, composed by Cameron Lam, founding Artistic Director of one of Sydney’s new music and hybrid art companies, Kammerklang.

We move onto the expression of state of mind through Sibelius’ tone poem En Saga before finally showcasing an epic for a huge orchestra, Symphonie Fantastique. A self-portrait of its composer, Hector Berlioz, it tells the story of self-destructive passion for a beautiful woman.

Following a commended 2015 season featuring Dvorak’s Symphony No.7, Britten’s Your Person’s guide to the Orchestra, and Holst’s Planets, Strathfield Symphony invites audiences to join us once again on our musical journey for 2016.
