A lost slipper and a handsome prince, join us for our first concert season of 2018 as Strathfield Symphony performs wonderful pieces from some of the most famous ballets of all time. Featuring music from Prokofiev’s Cinderella, De Falla’s The Three Cornered Hat, Delibes Coppelia and a depiction of the hours of the day through Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours, this season is sure to provoke tears and laughter.

Following a commended 2017 year, featuring Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Schuman’s Symphony No. 2, Strathfield Symphony invites audiences to join us once again on our musical journey for 2018. This year will showcase beautiful ballet suites, Christmas in September with the Messiah, Paganini’s Violin Concerto, and an action-packed night at the movies, featuring John William’s Star Wars!

Please note: This concert will only be on Saturday 7th April at 7pm, our usual Sunday concert will not be available to the public. Our Sunday concert will be exclusively available for NSW Seniors Week. If you are a senior and a resident of the Strathfield Local Council, you can access tickets to the Sunday concert directly from Strathfield Council.

2018-02 Czech Please!

A trail of breadcrumbs begins our second season for 2018. Beginning ‘Czech Please’ with Humperdinck’s Prelude from Hansel and Gretel, Strathfield Symphony will be performing Paganini’s Violin Concerto performed by Tinel Dragoi.

Our second half will be sure to invoke feelings of patriotism. Heralding from the New World, Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony is one symphonic masterpiece not to be missed.

2018-03 Handel’s Messiah

Season 3 A3

Sunday 16th September, 2.30pm

“Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth, good will towards men.”  Christmas is coming early this year with our performance of Handel’s Messiah. Reciting the story of Christ, Handel’s Messiah tells the story from the coming of the virgin birth, through to the resurrections and ascension, promise of redemption and the day of judgement. Strathfield Symphony will be performing the Messiah alongside the esteemed Excelsior College Choir and Sydney Sakura Choir.

Thunderbirds are go in our season finale of the year! Spend the evening listening to music from the silver screen as Strathfield Symphony performs some of the best-known movie music of all time! This concert is definitely one to bring the kids along to, featuring music from Indiana Jones, Thunderbirds, Pirates of the Caribbean, John William’s Star Wars and much much more!
