One Hit Wonders

Sunday 2nd July, 2.30pm

Petersham Town Hall,
107 Crystal Street, Petersham

The Proclaimers walked 10,000 miles, Nena had her 99 Luftballoons and Dexy’s Midnight Runners partied with Eileen. One Hit Wonders have been around long before rock music!

Smetena was a prolific composer across choral, chamber, orchestral and opera, but his most famous work is the symphonic poem Vltava (The Moldau in English). Samuel Barber composed for piano, violin, opera and symphony, but his Adagio for Strings has persevered. Dukas owes his one hit wonder to Mickey Mouse and César Franck reinvigorated the French classical tradition with his one and only Symphony. These One Hit Wonders are nothing if not wonderful!
